Women's Basketball uses 22-2 first quarter to dominates South Mountain CC
The Pima Community College women's basketball team (16-4, 8-2 in ACCAC) picked up its fourth straight win as it cruised on Saturday at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.
- The No. 12 ranked Aztecs opened the first quarter on a 22-2 run and went on to beat South Mountain Community College by 82 points at 109-27.
- The Cougars (3-13, 0-10) didn't score their first points of the game until 53 seconds left the first quarter.
- The Aztecs went on an 18-0 run in the second quarter to go up 46-6 as they took a 49-9 lead at halftime.
- The Aztecs went on to outscore the Cougars 61-18 in the second half.
- Sophomore Kiley Sours-Miller (Dream City Christian) posted her seventh double-double of the season finishing with a game-high 30 points on 14-for-19 shooting to go with 13 rebounds and four steals.
- Sophomore Lucy Land made her presence felt off the bench as she scored 18 points on 9-for-10 shooting. She also had four rebounds and two steals.
- Freshman Reigne Waugh flirted with a triple-double as she posted 12 points, 10 rebounds and six steals. She was 3-for-6 from the field and 5-for-6 from the free throw line.
- Freshman Nevaeh Urenda (Flowing Wells HS) contributed with 10 points, nine assists, seven steals and four rebounds off the bench.
- Freshman Kahlia Gonzales (Mesquite HS) added nine points, eight assists and three steals while sophomore Cassie Coolidge (Sahuaro HS) shot 4-for-4 from the field and 1-for-1 from three-point range for nine points.
The Aztecs will hit the road for the next two games. They play at Glendale Community College on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
