McReynolds, Baird and Hutchens combine for 35 kills but Volleyball falls in tiebreaker at Central Arizona College
The Pima Community College volleyball team (7-11) stepped away from ACCAC conference play for the final time during the regular season as it faced off against Central Arizona College (14-7) on Wednesday in Coolidge.
- The Aztecs tied the match on two occasions and forced a tiebreaker but fell in the end 25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 25-27, 15-12.
- Sophomores Maggie McReynolds (Mountain View HS) and Julia Baird each led the way with 12 kills apiece. McReynolds produced a double-double by adding 15 digs. Baird was a force at the net as she finished with seven blocks.
- Freshman Alexia Hutchens (Salpointe Catholic HS) also posted in double figures with 11 kills to go along with three blocks and three aces.
- Freshman Breeze Schelter finished the match with 22 assists while fellow freshman Alex Jacome (Canyon del Oro HS) closed it out with 18 assists and four aces.
- Sophomore Kendall Snyder (Canyon del Oro HS) contributed with eight kills and five blocks.
The Aztecs return to the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Friday when they host No. 9 ranked Mesa Community College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
