Jumper Kymia Bridgett improved national qualifier earns ACCAC women's Field Athlete of the Week

Sophomore jumper Kymia Bridgett was named ACCAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week after she took first place in the Triple Jump and improved on her NJCAA national qualifying mark with a jump of 12.11 meters (39-feet, 8.75-inches). Pima Community College women's track & field athlete Kymia Bridgett improved her NJCAA national qualifying mark in the Triple Jump last Saturday at the CAC Indoor Invitational and it received notice from the ACCAC conference.

  • Bridgett, a sophomore, was named ACCAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week. She is the first women's athlete to receive the honor this season.
  • Bridgett took first place in the Triple Jump with a mark of 12.11 meters (39-feet, 8.75-inches) placing her at the No. 2 spot in the NJCAA Division I rankings for the event. Her jump was an improved qualifier as her previous best was 12.03 meters (39-5.75). Bridgett also moved to the second spot in the Pima Indoor records list.

The Aztecs will compete at the GCC Indoor Multi's on Friday and the GCC Indoor Invitational on Saturday at Glendale Community College.
