Elizabeth Ugwu breaks 44-year school record in the Shot Put at CAC Indoor Invitational
The Pima Community College women's track & field team competed in its third meet of the Indoor season on Saturday at the CAC Invitational held at Central Arizona College.
- The No. 15 ranked Aztecs were highlighted by a new school record, two new NJCAA national qualifying marks and an improved qualifier.
- Freshman Elizabeth Ugwu (Sahuaro HS) broke the Pima school record in the Shot Put as she took first place with a throw of 13.13 meters (43-feet, 1-inch) on her third attempt. Her mark broke Becky Levi's previous record of 43-0 set in 1982. It also gave her a national qualifying mark.
- Freshman Cayla Jones (Cienega HS) earned a national qualifier in the Triple Jump as she took second place with a mark of 11.44 meters (37-6.50) on her third attempt. It put her eighth on the Pima all-time list.
- Sophomore Kymia Bridgett improved on her national qualifier in the Triple Jump as she took first place with a mark of 12.11 meters (39-8.75). She moved into the second spot on the Pima Indoor records list. She had previously set her qualifier at 12.02 meters (39-5.50).
The Aztecs will compete at the GCC Indoor Multi's on Friday and the GCC Invitational on Saturday in Glendale.
