Maylee Thompson earns All-American honors in Pentathlon and Long Jump as Aztecs Women's Track takes 10th place at Indoor Nationals

The Aztecs women's Track & Field team produced six NJCAA Indoor All-Americans and finished 10th in the final team standings with a score of 21.5. The Aztecs women's Track & Field team produced six NJCAA Indoor All-Americans and finished 10th in the final team standings with a score of 21.5. The Pima Community College Women's Track & Field team competed at the NJCAA Indoor National Championships on Friday and Saturday at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, TX.

  • The No. 8 ranked Aztecs finished 10th in the final standings with a total of 21.5 points.
  • Sophomore Maylee Thompson (Willcox HS) earned NJCAA Indoor All-American status in two events. She finished fifth in the Pentathlon with 3239 points earning four team points, a new PR and is now second in Pima Indoor history. She also took eighth place in the Long Jump at 5.62 meters (18-feet, 5.25-inches). Freshman Hannah Droeg (Casteel HS) tied for eighth place in the Pentathlon with 2979 points earning 0.5 points.
  • Sophomore Ja'Niya Ross (Desert Vista HS) tied for second place in the High Jump and earned seven points after finishing with a mark of 1.62 meters (5-feet, 3.75-inches) on her first attempt. Sophomore Izzy Green (McClintock HS) also earned All-American honors in the High Jump with three points. She took sixth place at 1.62 meters (5-3.75) on her second attempt.
  • Sophomore Morgan Pepe (Ironwood Ridge HS) was awarded third place in the Pole Vault with a vault of 3.75 meters (12-feet, 3.5-inches) on her first attempt. She gained six team points.

Other Pima finishes at the Indoor National Championships:

The Aztecs will open the Outdoor Season on Mar. 21-22 as part of the Willie Williams Invitational hosted by the University of Arizona. It will be held at the Roy P. Drachman Stadium.
