Melicia Nelson's double-double earns ACCAC Division II Player of the Week honors

Freshman guard Melicia Nelson (Window Rock HS) was named ACCAC Division II Player of the Week for Nov. 24-30 after she nearly produced a triple-double in Pima's 76-58 win at Central Arizona College. Pima Community College women's basketball player Melicia Nelson (Window Rock HS) produced one of her best games on the season and it caught the attention of the ACCAC conference.

  • Nelson, a freshman guard, was selected ACCAC Division II Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 24-30.
  • She helped the Aztecs beat Central Arizona College (ACCAC Division I) 76-58 in a non-conference game on Nov. 26. She finished with a season-high 16 points on 4 for 7 shooting with 11 rebounds, nine assists, two steals and one block. She went 2 for 3 from beyond the arc and 6 for 8 from the free throw line.
  • Nelson is averaging 6.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 2.1 steals. She has played and started in all seven games so far this season.

The Aztecs are back at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Wednesday when they host South Mountain Community College. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
