Jake Applegate (400mH) and Mason Heisser (Triple Jump) earn All-American honors as Men's Track & Field closes 2026 season

The Pima Community College men's track & field team finished up the 2026 season on Saturday in the final day of the NJCAA Division I National Championships in Hobbs, NM.

  • The Aztecs finished in 14th place with a total of 23.50 points. New Mexico Junior College took first place in the final standings with 97 points.
  • Sophomore Jake Applegate capped off his Pima career with a fifth place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.60 seconds. He earned four team points and NJCAA All-American recognition.
    Applegate broke the 110-meter hurdles Pima Outdoor school record in Friday's prelims race and owns the school records for all three hurdle events: 60-meter hurdles (8.23), 110-meter hurdles (14.32) and 400-meter hurdles 51.44.
  • Sophomore Mason Heisser gained his All-American status after he placed sixth in the Triple Jump with a personal-best of 14.93 meters (48-feet, 11.75-inches).
    He claimed the ACCAC Conference Championship in the Triple Jump on April 3.

The Aztecs captured their fourth straight Region I Team Championship (fifth in six years) and also secured the ACCAC Conference Team Championship.
