Bio
Started at Pima: 2011
Education: Bachelor's degree from the College of Letter Arts and Science. General Studies with a theme of Social Behavior and Human Understanding, University of Arizona.
Coaching Experience: Coach Durazo was an Assistant Coach at Tucson Magnet from 2004 to 2007 and also at Salpointe Catholic High School from 2009 to 2010.
Highlights: As a player, Durazo earned Southern Arizona All-State and All-City honors in 1997 and was also a Louisville Slugger High School All-American. In 1998 he was part of the Pima Community College State Championship team under coach Roger Werbylo. He finished the season with ACCAC All-Conference First Team Honors and was taken in the 46th round of the MLB draft by the Seattle Mariners. In 2001, while playing for the University of Arizona, he was named Pac-10 Player of the Week, 1st Team All-Pac-10 and 3rd Team NCAA All-American. He was then drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2001 MLB draft.
Personal: Durazo played at Tucson High School from 1994 to 1997 for Coach Oscar Romero. He played for Roger Werbylo at Pima Community College in 1998 and then to the University of Arizona from 1999 to 2001 under Coach Jerry Stitt. He was with the Toronto Blue Jays organization from 2001 to 2002. He is married to Patti Durazo and they have a son, Joseph Jacoby Durazo.
