Jackson Glueck drives in four runs as Baseball snaps four-game skid after beating No. 10 Madison College

The Pima Community College baseball team (19-16) picked up a non-conference win on Friday as it hosted Madison College (WI) in a single game at the West Campus Aztec Field.

  • The Aztecs used a seven-run inning to take the lead for good in their 10-5 win over the No. 10 ranked Wolfpack (9-5).
  • The Aztecs scored all seven of their runs off RBI singles and sacrifice-fly RBIs. Freshman Aciel Guillen (Salpointe Catholic HS), sophomore Ramon Martinez, freshman Adriel Figueroa-Brito, sophomore Owen Wade (Pinnacle HS) and freshman Juan Hernandez (Tucson Magnet HS) all produced on RBI singles in the inning. Sophomores Jackson Glueck and Matt MacDonald drove in runs with sac-fly RBIs as the Aztecs took a 7-0 lead.
  • Glueck had his second sac-fly RBI in the 6th inning bringing in Martinez to make it 8-2.
  • The Wolfpack cut into Pima's lead again in the 7th inning with three runs but the Aztecs countered with two runs in the bottom of the 8th inning. Figueroa-Brito hit a double with one out and Glueck followed with a two-run homer to right field.
  • Glueck closed out the game going 2-for-3 with four RBIs and a run scored. Figueroa-Brito finished 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs while Martinez went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs. Wade was 1-for-3 with an RBI and run and Hernandez finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Guillen also had an RBI and a run scored.
  • Sophomore Quintin Hennesy (Horizon HS) picked up the win as he pitched six innings, giving up two runs (none earned) on three hits with four strikeouts and three walks on 92 pitches.

The Aztecs get back to ACCAC conference play on Saturday against GateWay Community College in a doubleheader at the West Campus Aztec Field. The first game starts at 12:00 p.m.
