The Pima Community College women's soccer team (0-1) rallied on two occasions but dropped its opening game of the 2019 season on Saturday against No. 13 ranked Salt Lake Community College (2-0).
- The Bruins scored four unanswered goals in the final 27 minutes of play as the Aztecs fell 6-2 to the Bruins at the Kino North Grandstand.
- Down 1-0, the Aztecs gained some momentum heading into the break when freshman Savannah Samorano (Tucson HS) scored inside the box with less than a minute left in the half. Sophomore Alexis Tapia (Sahuaro HS) had the assist.
- The Bruins retook the lead in the 47th minute but the Aztecs tied the game once again after Samorano scored her second goal of the day off a header inside the box.
- The Aztecs were outshot 14-3 as sophomore Jorie Paul (Cienega HS) finished the game with eight saves. Pima also didn't have a corner kick in the game.
The Aztecs look to bounce back as they begin ACCAC conference play on Thursday. They'll host Paradise Valley Community College at Kino North Stadium at 4:30 p.m.
