Ruedaflores scores golden goal as Aztecs women's soccer floors South Mountain in double overtime

The Pima Community College women's soccer team (7-6-3) pulled off a hard-fought victory on Tuesday but it took extra play to get it done.

  • Sophomore Paola Ruedaflores (Nogales HS) scored the golden goal in the 105th minute to give the Aztecs a 2-1 win over South Mountain Community College (0-13-2). Fellow sophomore Annalisa Verdugo (Pueblo HS) had the assist.
  • The Aztecs struck first when sophomore Kylee Martin (Sahuaro HS) scored on a shot in the 17th minute that was assisted by freshman Yesenia Dominguez (Tucson HS).
  • The Cougars tied the game at 1-1 in the 32nd minute.
  • The Aztecs outshot the Cougars 11-3 for the game. Freshman Haven Chambers (Walden Grove HS) had two saves while sophomore Mackenzie Bernal (Tanque Verde HS) finished with one.

The Aztecs will be back at Kino North Stadium on Saturday when they host Mesa Community College at 7:00 p.m.
