Aztecs softball signs eight Southern Arizona players for 2018-19 season

The Pima Community College softball program added eight players for the 2018-19 athletic year.

Bianca Castillo (Rio Rico HS), Abril Nerey (Rio Rico HS), Ariana Ruiz (Pueblo HS), Brianna Campas (Buena HS), Hope Adams (Benson HS), Jessica Giacoma (Pusch Ridge Christian HS), Amaya Turner-Vizcarra (Tucson HS) and Samantha Angulo (Mountain View HS) signed their letters of intent to play for the Aztecs.

Castillo, a pitcher, threw 69.1 innings finishing with a 4.14 ERA and 73 strikeouts as a junior. She also batted .289 with 24 hits, 13 RBIs and 16 runs scored for the Hawks.

Nerey, a pitcher/utility player, batted .429 with 39 hits, 30 runs scored and 29 RBIs. She pitched 47.2 innings and finished with a 1.62 ERA with 53 strikeouts as a junior for the Hawks.

Ruiz, a pitcher/outfielder, pitched 22 innings in her junior season for the Warriors and had a 0.95 ERA with 35 strikeouts. She also batted .391 with 27 hits and 30 runs scored. 

Campas, an infielder, batted .488 with 41 hits, 37 runs scored and 28 RBIs as a junior for the Colts.

Adams, an infielder/outfielder, batted .479 as a junior for the Bobcats. She had 45 hits with 47 runs scored, 25 RBIs and 20 doubles. She also had a fielding percentage of .953. 

Giacoma, an infielder, hit .524 with 54 hits, nine home runs, 47 RBIs and 39 runs scored as a junior for the Lions. She also had 12 doubles and eight triples.

Turner-Vizcarra, an outfielder, batted .328 with 19 hits, 27 runs scored and 12 stolen bases as a junior for the Badgers.

Angulo, an outfielder, played in 21 games as a junior for the Lions. She batted .207 with six hits, seven runs scored and four RBIs.

The 2018 softball season begins on Jan. 26 at the College of Southern Nevada Kick-Off Classic.
