Gordillo nets game-winner as Aztecs men's soccer stuns Arizona Western College

The Pima Community College men's soccer team (9-2) avenged their first loss of the season on Saturday after defeating Arizona Western College (8-2-1) at Kino North Stadium.

  • Freshman Ricky Gordillo (Maya HS) scored the game-winning goal in the 86th minute to carry the No. 5 ranked Aztecs past the Matadors 2-1. Sophomore Abraham Espinoza (Saguaro HS) had the assist.
  • The Aztecs got on the board in the 12th minute with sophomore Hugo Kametani scored with an assist from Itsuki Ishihara to put Pima up 1-0. The Matadors tied the game in the 50th minute.
  • Freshman Nils Roth finished the game with two saves.
  • The Aztecs lost to Arizona Western 1-0 in overtime in the first game of the season last month.

The Aztecs will hit the road on Tuesday when they play at Chandler-Gilbert Community College at 4:30 p.m.
