Ishihara and Nguyen spark Aztecs men's soccer rally over Scottsdale CC

The Pima Community College men's soccer team (5-1) won its fifth straight game on Thursday but it didn't come easy against Scottsdale Community College (0-4-1).

  • The No. 6 ranked Aztecs came from behind to top the Artichokes 2-1 at Kino North Stadium.
  • The Artichokes scored in the 10th minute but the Aztecs closed out the half on a strong note. Freshman Itsuki Ishihara scored with 3:43 left in the half and fellow freshman Alec Nguyen (Sahuaro HS) gave the Aztecs the lead with 44 seconds left before the break.
  • Ishihara and Nguyen assisted in one another's goals.
  • Both defenses were put to work as the Aztecs outshot the Artichokes 5-2. Freshman Nils Roth had one save.

The Aztecs will conclude a busy week on Saturday as they play at South Mountain Community College on Saturday in Phoenix. Game time is set for 10:00 a.m.
