Aztecs football's Moala named NJCAA Player of the Week

Pima Community College freshman Sam Moala earned national recognition for his play in last Saturday's game at Eastern Arizona College.

Moala, a defensive end, was selected NJCAA Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday. He was named the WSFL Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

The Aztecs fell to the Gila Monsters 21-16 but Moala was the standout on defense as he finished with 13 tackles (seven solo) and three forced fumbles; one which he returned for a 5-yard touchdown. He also had five tackles-for-loss for a total of 20 yards. Moala has 21 tackles on the season.

The Aztecs will return to Kino North Stadium on Saturday when they host No. 11 ranked Snow College at 1:00 p.m.
