Education: Flowing Wells High School (2003)
Playing Experience: De La Vara played for Pima (2004-2005) where he was a two-tim All-ACCAC Conference player and holds the Pima strikeout record. He went on to play in the Jayhawk League Elkhart and Hays (2005). He was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 15th round (No. 445 overall)of the June 2004 First-Year Player Draft, signed by Mike Brown.
He pitched for Team USA in the World Cup in the Netherlands (2005). He was with the Royals organization from (2005-2008) and was a mid-season all-star (2006 and 2007). He was selected by the Astros from the Royals in the Rule 5 Major League Draft (2008-2009). He returned to the Royals (2009). He was signed by Independence Yuma (2010), signed by the Detroit Tigers (2010) and went to the Cincinnati Reds organization (2010). He signed again with Independent Yuma (2011) and then to Independent Bridgeport (2012). The following year he signed with Independent Sugar Land (2013).
