Pima Community College baseball players Phillip Sikes and Austin Bryan (Sahuarita HS) had big weeks on the field and were rewarded by the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference for the week of Apr. 8-14.
- Sikes, a sophomore outfielder, was named ACCAC Division I Player of the Week. He batted .533 (8 for 15) with five RBIs, five runs scored, two walks, two stolen bases, a double and a triple. The Aztecs earned sweeps at Central Arizona College and Yavapai College.
- He is batting .366 on the season with five home runs, 32 RBIs, 41 runs scored, 17 steals, nine doubles, five triple and 17 runs. He has also four saves on the mound and a 1.08 ERA in eight and one-third innings pitched.
- Bryan, a sophomore left-handed pitcher, was named ACCAC Division I Pitcher of the Week. He pitched 10 innings giving up one run (one earned) with 15 strikeouts and no walks. He started the week with a win in a relief appearance. He threw the final three innings giving up one hit with four strikeouts against the Vaqueros. He started against the Roughriders on Saturday and threw a complete-game giving up one run (one earned) on four hits with 11 strikeouts.
- Bryan is 9-1 on the season with a 2.62 ERA in 68.2 innings pitched. He has five complete-games and 83 strikeouts.
The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus Aztec Baseball Field on Tuesday when they host an ACCAC Division I doubleheader against Eastern Arizona College. First game starts at noon.
